The Sewer Jetter

Sewer and drain cleaning is one of the most important businesses in the country today, with an unlimited market including commercial, residential and industrial services. Here is a partial list of markets for drain and sewer jetting services: Apartment complexes, factories, fire departments, hotels & motels, restaurants, stores, funeral homes, gym clubs, schools, service stations and repair shops. Because commercial markets lose business if a drain backs up, many focus on preventative maintenance, such as, setting up a contract with a jetting business to clean the drain once or twice a year.

The Sewer Jetter Features:
• Direct drive triplex General pump
• Thermal relief valve
• Aircraft aluminum cart – lightweight, and rust free with rubber feet.
• 10 inch tubed pneumatic wheels with 3/4" ball bearing axles
• Pulsating jetter valve
• Adjustable pressure
• Roll cage
• Jumper Hose w/ Ball Valve
• Hose reel
• 1 jetter nozzle
• 60 mesh inlet water filter from garden hose to trap dirt and particles
• Integral unloader

Just add your sewer jetter hose. A sewer jetter hose is a long, flexible, high-pressure hose. The jetter nozzle goes on the end and typically has a front-firing jet to break apart clogs, and back-firing jets that propel the jetter hose forward into dirty drains and scrub the sides of the pipes. The other end of the sewer jetter hose has a fitting that attaches to the jumper hose with ball valve (on the sewer jetter unit).

Using a sewer jetter to clear a clogged drain can also be much easier than using a mechanical drain snake. A sewer jetter nozzle’s back-firing jets pull the hose deep into drain lines so there’s less physical effort required. It can thoroughly scrub the sides of a dirty sewer pipe as it travels through the line. This can reduce your need to clean the drain as frequently. A sewer jetter can efficiently flush out remaining clog residue after it breaks apart a clog.

Selecting a Machine

Some manufacturers suggest using a conversion kit to turn a pressure washer into a sewer jetter. By doing so, it’s possible to sell the benefits of jetting drain lines to all pressure washing customers, and vice versa. If you are jetting a line, point out areas where they need pressure washing and quote them a price. In many cases, you can pick up extra work by explaining to the customer that you will charge less because you are already on the premises.
If you are a commercial jetter business you will want to use an actual jetting machine to guarantee your work. (showing up at the job with a pressure washer is the best way to lose a customer). Best choice of machine is one of at least 3000 psi at 6gpm. The machine may run either hot or cold, but a hot unit is up to 90 percent more efficient when cleaning grease lines or frozen lines. Before purchasing a jetting machine, determine what kind of service agreement is available.

Selecting A Nozzle

The reverse jets on the fixed and rotary nozzles pull the hose through the tube or sewer line and blast debris from line or tube walls.

• The fixed jetter nozzles also have a forward orifice to blast blockage out of the way.
T The Sewer Nozzle slides easily into sewer or drain lines to flush debris and clean frozen pipes. Forward port blasts into pipe to break up clog and debris. Backward ports drive the nozzle forward while flushing debris.
• The rotary sewer nozzle.
T This rotating style adds extra agitation and surface cleaning to clear debris 4200 PSI maximum. The backward ports drive the nozzle forward and flush debris.

Foot Valves:
Operators of sewer and tube cleaning equipment need both hands free to feed or retract the hose in the sewer line. The foot operated valve allows hands-free control.
