Rebuilding The Flow-Actuated Unloader Valve

T

The K-5 and K-7 designs are typical of flow unloaders. A number of manufacturers make unloaders of this type including Suttner, Giant, Cat and others. This unloader type can be rebuilt using a vise and minimal tools. Care should be taken to not scratch or damage the unloader during rebuilding. Special care should be taken to not damage internal surfaces and parts. (more…)

Pressure Relief Valves

T

Protection Against Excessive Pressure

The pressure relief or pop-off valve is a simple pressure-relieving safety device. When system pressure reaches a predetermined point, the valve opens and releases water from the system to the atmosphere. The pressure relief valve functions as sort of a circuit breaker for water. (more…)

Electricity

Introduction To Electricity
Many system controls are for incorporate electrical switches. To fully understand their action, you need to understand how electricity works and how to test circuits. It does not take a genius to understand how electricity works. The first step is understanding how electricity is measured. (more…)

All About Unloader Valves

T

The Unloader Valve in Action

The unloader valve diverts water flow into bypass when the trigger gun valve is closed. Unloaders may be designed to respond to either an increase in pressure or a change in flow. The unloader valve may also be used for variable pressure adjustment. (more…)

How The Trigger Gun Works

T

Trigger Gun

Trigger guns are fairly simple mechanisms designed around a trigger-operated valve. Generally a ball and valve seat is used in trigger guns but a piston valve may be used in a dump gun. (more…)

Trigger Gun Control & The Unloader

T

Controlling Flow from the Cleaning System

The trigger gun and unloader valve are the two main components of the most common control and safety system for high pressure cleaning equipment. (more…)

Unloaders and Valves

T

The spray gun and unloader make up a two-part valve system that directs water into bypass and back to the pump or float tank. The spray gun shuts off the flow of water causing the unloader to recirculate the water back into the inlet side of the pump. (more…)

Pressure Washer Maintenance

Cleaning and examining your pressure washer on schedule will save you time and money.

Cleaning and examining both your pressure washer and the accessories you use with it, before and after each use, will help you avoid problems with performance, and will save you money on parts and repairs. Refer to your owner manual for special guidelines that are appropriate to your pressure washer’s make and model. O-rings keep the spray wand and hose connections tight and leak free, while screen (or high pressure) filters help prevent debris from clogging hoses and damaging the water pump. Through normal operation of the pressure washer these parts can become clogged, worn, or damaged so they should be cleaned or replaced before the unit is operated. (more…)
